Privacy Policy

Sayselah is a language-learning app. We hold the smallest amount of personal data we can get away with while still doing our job. Plain English version below.
What we store
- Sign-in identity. An opaque ID from Sign in with Apple or Google. Your email is hashed unless you choose to share it for support.
- Learning progress. Which verses you've read, which words you struggled with, your CEFR level, streak, and saved words. This drives the AI tutor's next lesson.
- Voice transcripts. The text our speech recogniser hears when you read aloud. Audio itself is processed on-device or by Google Cloud Speech-to-Text and not stored long-term.
- Optional profile facts. If you tell the tutor why you're learning ("for church", "to read Psalms with my family"), we save the gist as text so the tutor can be more relevant.
What we do NOT store
- Recorded audio (beyond the transcript, briefly, to debug if you opt in).
- Contact lists, photos, location, or any health data.
- Anything we don't need.
Who else sees it
- Google (Firebase + Gemini AI). Authentication and the AI tutor's responses go through Google. They process your text under their privacy policy; we don't grant them training-data rights.
- Apple. Sign in with Apple, App Store. Standard.
- Cloudflare. Edge proxy for the website + API. Sees IP addresses; does not see message content.
- Nobody else. No ad networks, no analytics SDKs in the app shipping data out.
Your rights
You can ask us to export everything we have on you, or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We respond within 7 days. Account deletion in-app coming soon.
Cookies
This website sets one analytics cookie (Google Analytics 4) only if Analytics is configured by the operator. The mobile app does not set web cookies; it stores a Sign-in token locally on your device.
